Book Review: ALL MY RESTLESS LIFE TO LIVE BY DEE DETARSIO

Format: Kindle, Paperback 360 pages Average rating: 3.94 Our rating: 3.5 out of 5 Literary awards: Nominee for Next Generation Indie Book award ('13) & The San Diego book awards ('13) Buy it here: Amazon | Barnes & Noble  | As with any other review copy, I start off slow, read every page carefully, highlight favourites and bits that I think need changing... but not with this one. Oh Dee, you comedy genius. I've always enjoyed the fantasy aspect of Dee's work, as you never quite know what to expect. Her stories are unpredictable, always surprising and most of all, heart warming, and this one was no different. The story follows Elle Miller, a bright young woman  who writes for a popular soap opera for a living.  Life would be wonderful, could be so wonderful- But is it? Oh no. Far from it, actually. After the untimely death of her father, Elle feels more lost than ever and still struggles to cope a year after his passing.  When her pre...

Novelicious book review- How to get a (love) life - ROSIE BLAKE

How to get a (love) life is Rosie Blake's fabulous debut and I was fortunate enough to get a copy  from the sweet ladies over at Novelicious.  HTGALL had been on my TBR for several months and so I was particularly excited to get started  on it once I  finally got my hands on it.  So the next day, I believe it was a sunny tuesday,  I made myself a lovely cuppa, popped on some Miles Davis and went outside  into the garden, kindle in the left hand, cuppa in the other.  I  sat down and got started.  (Ooo, and let's not forget the custard creams here. A definite must!) So there I was, basking in the glorious sun, burning through the pages like there's no tomorrow. For those who haven't read it yet, (Tsk, tsk!)  the story follows young  and petite  Nicola Brown on her quest to  find, well... you guessed it, to find  herself a nice bit of romance.   The ingredients:  1 x s...

And what could be better than celebrating all the lovely authors out there, who work so hard to bring us our next favourite book and lets also not forget all the hardworking, super illustrators.  So today, I went out and had a little look around my local book stores and my, my! I found some wonderful books. Particularly picture books- MY WERE THOSE GORGEOUS. I almost couldn't contain my excitement and may have even squealed a little bit. While I desperately tried to tone down my excitement my little niece Elsie had already made herself comfortable. I found her sitting next to the picture  +Hodder Childrens Books )  books shelf, wilding browsing through...

First up we have Eva Morgans modern day  +Sherlock Holmes  retelling 'LOCKED'  It is a young-adult mystery and is based on the Sherlock Holmes series by A. Doyle, but with a young-adult spin to it! Lovely Vicious by Sara Wolf My rating: 5 of 5 stars The cover was what intrigued me initially. The story however blew me away. Utterly and completely threw me.  Definitely didn't see that one coming when I started it. Now let me make this clear for you, this is by no means your average teen romance. Nope. So if you're expecting sappy, sugary sweet romance, then this isn't the book for you. However, if you're keen on mystery, suspense and intrigue topped off with the most brilliant kinds of humour, what are you waiting for!? Lovely Vicious will knock your socks off.  There a so many different layers of darkness and solid ice that surround both of the main characters and I absolutely loved. Devoured it. I couldn't put it down and went through a serious phase of book mourning after I turned the last page. IT CANT BE OVER. NO. NO IT CANT BE. But it was and I had to deal with waiting for the second one. Absolute torture.  The suspense and the...

GUESTPOST: Author JACK CROXALL spills the beans on his second novel UNWOVEN

Hey guys!  Today we welcome back young-adult and  historical fiction author  JACK CROXAL   That Difficult Second Album Novel I was very lucky with my first novel, Tethers . It gained thousands of downloads, received hundreds of lovely reviews and it even topped an Amazon best-seller chart – ‘Steampunk’. But I have a confession. When I first published Tethers , I had no idea what steampunk actually was. I’d never heard the word until readers started using it in their reviews, and, in the end, I had to Google the term just to find out what it meant. However, after a bit of research, I had lots of fun delving into some exciting steampunk books and watching some crazy steampunk films too. For anyone still a bit lost, here is a rough overview of the genre: Steampunk is a sub-genre of sci-fi and fantasy typically featuring steam-powered machinery, often in a setting inspired by or relating to the industrial...
